Arzu ??ltekin is a professor of human-computer interaction and extended reality at the Institute of Interactive Technologies, University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland, and a research affiliate with Harvard's "Seamless Astronomy" team at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. She has a strong interest and background in visualization, with a specific focus on geospatial information sciences. Her research agenda covers various topics on technology, design and human factors perspectives on visualization and visuospatial cognition. She has been working on visual complexity of maps and map-like displays, examining the role of 3D representations including stereoscopic displays, realism and color in human performance with visualizatons in connection to cognitive load in general as well as in relation to aging.
